Summary:
I expected the kids to be rowdy, kid-like toddlers. However, it turned out to be the opposite; a certain fact remained the same: It was hard to lead them. Only a kid participated. His name was Jayson, a small kid who has the guts to explore the world. He was the only extrovert in the room, if I may say. There were two quiet toddlers, but they left me an impact. These two are Jerome and Eman 2. Jerome was quiet, too quiet. Nevertheless, when you hear his soft voice, you will be amazed how nice that kid is. Well, Eman 2 is his exact opposite, in terms of movement. He keeps on running around us. He hides under the table. He sees the world as a playground. That is the perspective of a child anyway, so it is forgivable. What is their similarity? It is their faces. Both of them are adorable, to the extent that you want to squeeze their cheeks! Ü God created children not just for a nuisance in our lives, but also an inspiration. Ü
After our outreach, the person-in-charge toured us around the area. It turns out that the place is an island. Only the bridge can bring us back to civilization.
First, we went to the mentally retarded section. I realized this strong truth in me: I do not fit in the world of Occupational Therapy. Some of us got shocked. The patients would approach you as if you know them. I will not mention the names of the people who got shocked, in order to have a fair treatment among us. Hihihi! In the end, we made a distance from the group.
Last, but not the least, were the elderly. It is fun to hang out with them, since you can talk to them like an adult. Technically, they are adults, OLD adults. However, there is a certain level of wisdom which they possess, hidden from their simple words. There was a Chinese elder there. I was not able to ask her age, but she has an UTI. It is great that God still gave them hope to heal despite the age.
Our trip ended here. Despite the inconvenience, we brought the Gospel to them, and they gave us a well-rounded smile in exchange. Ü
